NASCAR, Daytona, Speedweek 2003; what more can be said? Come to “The World Center of Racing” and experience over 1200 miles of thrilling stock car racing on the 2.5 mile high banked tri-oval super speedway. Daytona Beach, Florida and Daytona International Speedway are reservoirs of NASCAR Racing tradition; from the world famous flat, wide, hard sands of Daytona Beach where from 1948 until the late 1950’s, NASCAR drivers raced beside and sometimes into the breaking surf of the Atlantic Ocean; to the evolution of stock cars that made NASCAR history on the Speedway’s 31 degree banked turns. You will have the opportunity to visit the beautiful beaches and our tour will include a visit to the ever growing history of NASCAR, the “ultimate motor sports attraction” - DAYTONA USA. Four stories and 50,000 square feet of race cars, interactive exhibits, video displays and a full throttle, surround-sound film about the Daytona 500 will wet our appetite for the real thing as will the behind-the-scenes tram tour of the speedway including the pit and garage area. We will start our tour with a welcome dinner and orientation to review our agenda and tour schedule. Then we will shift into high gear as we head for the track where every driver entered has their last chance to make the big show in the Twin Gatorade 125 mile qualifying races. These all important sprint races have become one of the highlights of this busy racing week. The next racing events on tap are the Goody’s Dash Series 200 and the IROC-International Race of Champions. This will be open seating so you can view the action from various locations. This is a good day to visit the massive NASCAR team souvenir area just outside the track at turn four. Real race fans won’t want to miss the Dash Series Race with NASCAR’s up-and-coming young stars in 165 mph four-cylinder stock cars. This was one of the most exciting races on the program last year and the IROC Race has produced, in past years, the tightest 185 mph nose to tail racing with twelve of the world’s greatest drivers from NASCAR, Indy cars, Professional Sports Cars and SCCA Trans-Am series all driving equally prepared Pontiac Firebirds. We return to the track for the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series showpiece, the Daytona 300 with top drivers from both the Busch and NASCAR Cup ranks. The culmination of Speedweek is of course the NASCAR Daytona 500. This is the premier race on the NASCAR circuit. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience this great racing event. SPECIAL NOTES: Seating for the Napa 300 & Daytona 500 will be in the backstretch chair back-style grandstands. Bus transportation and reserved tickets are included for all racing events.
